
Kanybek Dosmambetov, the Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, held a meeting with Leslie Viguerie, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the USA in the country.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Health, the main topic of discussion was cooperation in the field of healthcare. Issues of experience exchange in public health, disease prevention, medical personnel training, and the implementation of modern technologies in medicine were discussed.
During the meeting, it was also noted that as part of improving healthcare infrastructure, a project for the construction of a medical town in Bishkek is being developed. This project involves the acquisition of modern medical and laboratory equipment, including from leading American companies. In addition, the parties expressed interest in internships and advanced training for Kyrgyz specialists in the USA.
According to the proposed memorandum, the USA intends to focus its efforts on three key areas:
- ensuring access to medical services and medications for people living with HIV;
- supporting the national tuberculosis control program;
- strengthening sanitary and epidemiological preparedness.
In conclusion of the discussion, both parties confirmed their interest in further cooperation on healthcare issues, infrastructure modernization, epidemiological safety, and medical personnel training.
