At the meeting of the committee on judicial and legal issues and the fight against crime of the Jogorku Kenesh, a bill concerning begging was approved in the second reading.

The proposed changes to the Code of Offenses include new measures aimed at combating begging. For instance, begging on the roads and persistent requests for money in public places may result in community service from 20 to 30 hours or arrest for up to three days.

In the case of repeated detention within a month, the punishment will be significantly stricter: from 30 to 40 hours of community service or arrest from three to five days. For foreign citizens caught committing this offense again, deportation from the country is provided.

Additionally, the bill addresses the responsibility for involving vulnerable categories of citizens in begging, such as the elderly, pregnant women, individuals with mental disorders, and people with disabilities. For such violations, a fine of 20,000 soms is proposed. Foreign citizens who repeat such violations may also be deported from the country.
