In the main event of UFC 323, Russian fighter Petr Yan achieved victory over Merab Dvalishvili, securing a unanimous decision from the judges and reclaiming his rights to the bantamweight championship title.
Khabib Nurmagomedov, also a former UFC champion, highly praised Yan's performance, calling this fight "the greatest." For Petr, it was an opportunity to take revenge for his loss in March 2023, when he lost to Dvalishvili by decision.
Yan became the UFC champion in July 2020; however, he lost the title in 2021 after being disqualified for an illegal knee strike in a fight against Aljamain Sterling.
As of today, 32-year-old Yan has a record of 20 wins and 5 losses. His success has already been acknowledged by athletes such as Islam Makhachev, Vadim Nemkov, Pavel Durov, and Umar Nurmagomedov.
