FC Tottenham fined for Nazi gestures by fans

FC Tottenham Hotspur has been fined €30,000 and received a conditional ban on attending away matches due to an incident that occurred on January 28 during a Champions League game against Eintracht Frankfurt in Germany. Three club fans displayed Nazi salutes in the stands.

UEFA explained the sanctions by stating that they are related to "discriminatory and racist behavior of fans." The away match ban will be in effect for one year and may be activated in case of repeated violations. Additionally, the club was fined €2,250 for throwing objects during the match at Deutsche Bank Park.

Representatives of Tottenham stated that they actively cooperated with the investigation conducted by UEFA and the German police. All three offenders were identified and are now banned from attending the club's matches indefinitely. In an official statement, Tottenham emphasized that it condemns any forms of discrimination and that the actions of individual fans do not reflect the values of the club.

On the football field, Tottenham secured a 2-0 victory under former coach Thomas Frank and advanced to the Round of 16 in the Champions League, where they will face Atletico Madrid. The first match will take place on March 10 in Spain, and the return match will be held on March 18 in North London.

Despite the successes in the Champions League, the team is struggling in the English league, sitting in 16th place, just five points above the relegation zone. Midfielder Yves Bissouma noted that the club needs to make efforts to improve its performance.
