After the recent defeat of "Real" 2:3 to "Barcelona" in the Supercup final of Spain, the club decided to change coaches, appointing Álvaro Arbeloa to the vacant position.

Xabi Alonso, who managed the team for 28 matches, left the team in second place in La Liga, with 45 points after 19 games, just four points behind the leaders - "Barcelona." Despite the decent results, the club's management expressed dissatisfaction with the tactical uncertainty and instability of the team in key matches.

Álvaro Arbeloa, who had previously worked with "Castilla" since June 2025, has extensive coaching experience in the "Real" academy, where he led the U14, U16, and U19 teams. Under his guidance, the U19 youth team won three trophies in the 2022-2023 season (League, Copa del Rey, and Champions Cup), as well as the League in the 2024-2025 season.

Now Arbeloa must focus on stabilizing the team's performance, restoring clarity and energy in matches, and strengthening "Real's" position in the second half of the season. Despite Alonso's departure, he maintained support among the players, who noted that the responsibility for the results should lie with both the coach and the footballers.
