Andrey Arshavin, known for his performances with "Zenit," expressed his opinion regarding a potential new coach for "Spartak." He believes the club should consider the candidacy of Stanislav Cherchesov.
Arshavin noted: "Who would I recommend to 'Spartak'? I wouldn't want to give advice. Talalaev? He is currently busy building a team at 'Baltika' and is unlikely to leave. And Cherchesov? I think he would be perfect for this role," reports RB Sport.
Recall that on November 11, "Spartak" confirmed the departure of Dejan Stankovic, who had been in charge of the team since the summer of 2024. Despite extending the contract with the Serbian coach until the summer of 2027 earlier this year, the team's results did not meet expectations.
After the first 15 matches in the Russian Premier League, "Spartak" earned 25 points and is in sixth place in the table. The unstable results were one of the reasons for the coaching change.
Arshavin added that Cherchesov has experience working with the national team and is capable of improving "Spartak's" performance, making him a logical candidate for the head coach position.
Now "Spartak" needs to choose a new mentor who can return the team to the top positions in the RPL.
