In an interview with @azamat_murataliev, Kanat Begaliyev, a finalist at the 2008 Olympic Games, shared his views on the current state of Greco-Roman wrestling in Kyrgyzstan and highlighted the main challenges faced by athletes.
According to Begaliyev, one of the main problems is the lack of unity among coaches. "Many of them have their grievances. Each works independently with 3-4 wrestlers, which I do not support. We all need to unite," he emphasized. The time before the Olympic Games is rapidly passing, and for successful preparation, this may prove insufficient without the joint efforts of the entire coaching staff.
He also noted that managing ten weight categories will require about 20 coaches who must actively interact with the wrestlers on the mat, rather than remaining on the sidelines. Begaliyev expressed his willingness to personally participate in the team's preparation, even on a voluntary basis.
"We have many talented coaches. It is important to unite. Everything depends on them! I am ready to help raise an Olympic champion. I have two sons who practice wrestling, but I am not their coach," he added.
Kanat Begaliyev also pointed out that sometimes athletes may be barred from competitions due to jealousy or personal conflicts among coaches and called for cooperation and support for the common success of the national team.
The expert emphasized that only the joint efforts of coaches and athletes will allow Kyrgyzstan to perform honorably on the international stage and at the Olympic Games.
