The young athlete, who is a candidate for the title of master of sports, is striving for his main dream – participation in the Olympic Games.
Turmush correspondent learned more about his path to success.
“I was born in 2008 and grew up in a simple family in the Sokuluk District. We have four children in our family: two older siblings and one younger brother. Currently, I am studying in the 11th grade at the Alymkul Zhakshylykov Gymnasium. I started practicing sports in 2021, under the guidance of coaches Kamal Toygonbaev, Ernist Osmonov, and Mirlan Zheenbaev. The beginning was not easy, but I showed patience and continued to train. Gradually, I began to participate in competitions. Unfortunately, my first tournaments ended in defeats. However, as the old saying goes, "patience and hard work will grind everything." In September 2024, I won the Cup at a major international tournament in Kazakhstan. In November of the same year, I participated in an international tournament in Talas, where boxers from Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, and Belarus competed. In the final, I won against a Kazakhstani opponent with a score of 4-1 and became the champion. Then I reached the final of the Kyrgyzstan Championship, which allowed me to obtain the title of candidate for master of sports. Earlier this year, a large international tournament took place in Russia, where more than 150 athletes from Central Asian countries, Iran, China, and Mongolia competed. Unfortunately, I took third place,” he shared.
Aitbek also talked about his most memorable tournaments and goals for the future.
“Some tournaments stood out in particular. One of them took place this summer, in July. This event marks its 27th anniversary. Athletes participated not only from Kazakhstan but also from Iraq, Qatar, Syria, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, Russia, and Kyrgyzstan. In the semifinals, I faced a serious opponent. Both rounds were tense, but in the third round, I managed to send him to the canvas and win the match with a score of 5-0, which allowed me to advance to the final. Unfortunately, in the final, I lost to a boxer from Karaganda with a score of 3-2, taking second place. However, the most memorable tournament for me was the international tournament in Talas, where I won the championship title. This tournament featured athletes from five countries. In the semifinals, I defeated an opponent from Bishkek by technical knockout in the second round, and then in the final, I faced him again and, despite some discomfort in the first round, managed to win by technical knockout in the second round. This tournament will forever remain in my memory. By the way, a year ago at the same tournament, I also became the champion,” the boxer recounted.
“My main dream is to participate in the Olympic Games. This is the goal of every athlete, and I am no exception. To achieve this, you need to work hard and train diligently,” he added.
Aitbek's height is 191 cm, and his weight is 92 kg.
