At the auction, 86 unique items of Dutch athletes' uniforms were presented, and the total revenue amounted to 275,345 euros. Leerdam's suit became the most expensive lot in the history of such sales. The previous record belonged to a jersey worn by Cristiano Ronaldo, which was sold for less than 63,000 euros.
During the auction, there was a real battle for Yutta's suit: the price sharply increased from 8,400 to over 170,000 pounds sterling in just a few hours. The winner of the bidding was a private collector from the Netherlands.
All the funds raised will be donated to the IJsvereniging Pijnacker club, where Leerdam began her career in speed skating. The club's management has already announced its intention to discuss with the athlete's family how exactly these funds will be used. Among other lots at the auction were suits from athletes such as Femke Kok and Kjeld Nuis, but their final prices significantly lagged behind Leerdam's record.
