The modern ski base "Karakol" is located in Kyrgyzstan, 7 km from the city of Karakol (Issyk-Kul region).
In Soviet times, it was used for training the Olympic national team. In 2004, the base was completely modernized. Today, "Karakol" is an ideal place not only for athlete training but also for active recreation.
The territory of the "Karakol" ski base includes:
* four chairlifts (two 2-seater and two 3-seater)
* three hotel buildings
* chalet houses
* a restaurant
* a slope café.
The "Karakol" ski base is a unique ski resort with exceptional natural conditions. The base is located at an altitude of 2300 meters above sea level, on the slopes of the Tien Shan mountains, amidst majestic coniferous forests. The mild climate, influenced by the non-freezing high-altitude Issyk-Kul Lake, allows for maximum enjoyment while skiing. In winter, daytime temperatures rarely drop below -5 degrees, and the large number of sunny days allows for skiing and sunbathing at the same time. The ski season starts in November and lasts until April. During this time, you need not worry about snow - it covers the ground with a dense layer, the thickness of which varies from 1.5 to 2.5 meters.
In winter, it is a paradise for skiers and snowboarders. Snowmobile rides through the winter forest will add positive emotions and unforgettable impressions. In summer, you have a unique opportunity to take thrilling rides on mountain roads in jeeps, feel like a true horseman conquering mountain peaks, or embark on exciting hikes along the best tourist routes.
Winter Recreation.
Over 20 km of trails can satisfy both experienced skiers and those conquering mountain slopes for the first time. There is plenty of space for freeride enthusiasts and for those who prefer groomed trails.
The skiing area features wide, spacious descents on untouched snow and specially prepared slopes. The length of each descent varies from 400m to 3.5km. Most trails pass through coniferous forests.
You can ski at any altitude. The highest point for skiing is 3040m. The height difference is 740m, with a minimum slope of 7% and a maximum slope of 53%. From the panoramic summit, you can see the nearby five-thousanders and the high-altitude Issyk-Kul Lake.
In winter, starting from the 2008-2009 season, the mountain slopes are serviced by two 3-seater and two 2-seater chairlifts. All trails are groomed by "PistenBully" machines. Snowmobiles are available for transporting enthusiasts to the slopes to enjoy skiing on powder snow.
In the rental point, you can find annually updated ski equipment - skis and snowboards from "Rossignol". Thanks to the latest equipment from "Wintersteiger", you will receive help with repairs and servicing of your equipment, with the possibility of adjusting your new ski boots to fit your feet, if necessary. If you are skiing for the first time, professional instructors will teach you the skiing technique. We recommend that you take at least one exciting walk with a guide through the magical winter forest, where you will gain a wealth of unforgettable impressions!
Freeride (from English free ride) - is skiing outside of marked trails in the mountains.
It opens up huge new possibilities, allowing you to experience skiing in a completely new way, providing a choice. Off-piste enthusiasts can ski through the forest or descend on untouched snow on the eastern slope. Conquering the endless snowy expanses will give you immense pleasure and a sense of unlimited freedom gliding over the Karakol snow. Here, you will encounter unexplored sensations and vivid emotions. You will discover new things about your spirit's strength and assess your skill level, and most importantly, you will feel like a pioneer, a conqueror of the elements. The diverse natural decorations created by the mountain's relief, snow, and wind will allow you to feel the true thrill of flight that takes your breath away.
Every year, an ice rink operates at the Karakol ski base.
The ice is prepared by professional equipment from the well-known Canadian company ZAMBONI. Skates of all sizes are available for rent.
The seclusion of the slope makes sledding absolutely safe. So children can entertain themselves while their parents ski. However, the width of the slope allows the whole family or a large group to slide down together.
And even if you are an experienced skier, do not deny yourself the pleasure of recalling childhood and sliding down the hill on a sled. A sea of fun, joy, and laughter is guaranteed.
Summer Recreation.
The developed infrastructure allows visiting the "Karakol" ski base at any time of the year and caters to both active and health-improving recreation enthusiasts.

The organizers invite you to walk along the best tourist routes, as well as to take amazing horseback or bicycle rides through the gorges. You will see untouched corners of nature, lakes with crystal clear water framed by ridges and rocky peaks, alpine meadows in floral adornment. The boldest can see all the beauty of forests and mountains from a bird's eye view by paragliding with an instructor or try to fish for trout in mountain rivers.
And in the evening, after all the impressions, be sure to enjoy a steam bath with an oak broom. Entire encyclopedias have been written about the health benefits of bath procedures. For the accommodation of vacationers, there is a hotel (3 buildings), chalet cottages (3 cottages), luxury apartments, and the Kapriz-Karakol hotel. Check-in time is 14:00. Check-out time is 12:00.
Building No. 1 – one-story, consists of 10 single rooms. Of these, 5 double rooms with double beds, 1 double room with 2 single beds, and 4 triple rooms with two and one single beds. All rooms are equipped with a shower, toilet, TV, and necessary furniture.
Building No. 2 – two-story, consists of 6 single rooms and 2 double rooms. 3 rooms with 2 single beds and 3 rooms with 2 double beds. All rooms have TV, toilet with shower, and furniture. In the double room: one room has a double bed, the other has soft furniture, TV, and a toilet with a shower.
Building No. 3 – 8 single double rooms. All rooms have a double bed (can be converted into 2 single beds), TV, dressing table, large sofa, toilet with shower. Rooms No. 5 and No. 8 additionally have a refrigerator.
2 Chalet Cottages (blue and yellow house) – these are two-story cottages, each of which can accommodate 8 people. On the first floor, there is a living room, a bedroom, and 2 toilets with showers. The second floor has 3 separate bedrooms with double beds.
Red Cottage – a cozy three-story cottage located in the forest. It can comfortably accommodate 8-10 people. On the first floor, there is a hall with a fireplace, a large TV, a bar counter, soft furniture, and a toilet. The second floor has 2 double rooms. One of the double rooms has a shower, and the other has a toilet with a jacuzzi. In one room of each double room, there is a double bed, and in the other, there is a sofa and TV. The third floor has 2 single double rooms. The rooms have 2 single beds, a toilet with a shower, and TV.
Luxury Apartments – this is a first-class cottage for recreation. It is designed to accommodate 11 people. There is a garage for 2 cars. In the hall, there is a kitchen with a refrigerator and microwave, billiards, and a TV. On the first floor, there are 2 bedrooms. The first bedroom has 3 single beds, and the second has 1 double bed. Two toilets are on the floor. The second floor has 3 bedrooms. In the third and fourth bedrooms, there is one double bed each. Two toilets and a shower are located on the floor. In the fifth bedroom, there is a double bed and a toilet with a shower.
