The feather and pencil drawings by B. Koshoyev are distinctive, abundant with mass scenes, character types, details from folk life, and panoramic landscapes of nature (“Toys,” 1968, ink; “Mountains,” 1974, pencil; triptych “Spring of the 60th Anniversary of October,” 1977, gouache; series “Kyrgyz National Games,” 1979, gouache, etc.). Despite the conventionality of the images, they are characterized by a delicate observation, precision of the contour line outlining figures and objects with a light artistry. The expressiveness of Koshoyev's individual style is connected with the creative assimilation of the aesthetics of the art of ancient and modern peoples of the Far East, such as Mongolia, Yakutia, and others. The author typically chooses an interesting viewpoint on the depicted events (as if from the height of a mountain), which allows him to encompass crowds of people, a multitude of events, broad landscapes, and settlements, composing them into cohesive, interconnected, yet localized groups united by some action.
For the works of a draftsman like Ya. Solop, imagery created by his imagination based on impressions received from nature is more characteristic (“Melody of BAM,” 1983; “Youth,” 1983; “Children,” 1983; “Girls,” 1983).
