Kurmanov Talai
Graphic artist. People's Artist of the Kyrgyz Republic. Born on May 22, 1949. In 1976, he graduated from the Leningrad Higher Artistic and Industrial School named after V.I. Mukhina. From 1976 to 1998, he worked in the artistic fund of Kyrgyzstan, and from 1988 to 1989, he served as the chief artist of the State Publishing House of Kyrgyzstan. Since 1998, he has been the chairman of the board of the Union of Artists of the Kyrgyz Republic.
His ability to realize his creative potential and professional experience in various forms and genres of art allows the artist to create both graphic and painting works. He has made a name for himself in book graphics. A special place in Kurmanov's work is occupied by the five-volume edition of the Kyrgyz epic "Manas" based on the version by Sayakbay Karalaev. In easel graphics, the artist develops various themes - labor life, images of loved ones, and landscapes.
T. Kurmanov has been awarded diplomas, honorary certificates, and prizes, including the medal "For the Best Diploma of the Year" (1976), the Belek Jumabaev Prize (1988), the Abai Kunanbaev Diploma (1989), the G. Aitieva Prize "For the Best Work of the Year" (1990), a UNESCO diploma (2000), and the "Best Kyrgyz Book" diploma (2002). T. Kurmanov is a holder of the gold medal from the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). He is a participant in republican and international exhibitions. His works are housed in the Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts named after G. Aitieva and in museums of the CIS.
Since 1983, he has been a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR.
