Sentencing of Tokchoro Dzholdoshev

Dzholdoshev and a number of other comrades were vilified at the V Plenary of the Kirgiz Regional Committee of the Party, which took place in December 1935. The plenary session was dedicated to the results of the verification of party documents in the Kyrgyz party organization. From the report of the second secretary of the Kirgiz Regional Committee of the Party: “... expelled from the party for supporting the Akhvostiev-Sydykov counter-revolutionary nationalist organization. Dzholdoshev, being a party member and a member of the Oblast Committee, engaged in anti-party, anti-Soviet conversations with the Akhvostiev-Sydykov counter-revolutionary nationalist organization. During these conversations, Dzholdoshev openly stated that there was an overwhelming presence of Russians in Kyrgyzstan, that Kyrgyz people were being expelled from the party, the Soviet apparatus, and other institutions. The Oblast Committee repeatedly summoned Dzholdoshev to the Oblast Committee bureau, demanding his open acknowledgment of his mistakes. Dzholdoshev, knowing many party members who had deceitfully infiltrated the party, not only failed to expose them but also protected and promoted them to leadership positions in the Narcompros organs as heads of district education departments, directors of educational institutions, etc. (Ryskel'dinov - head of the district education department, Dzhambaev - head of the district education department, Kokenov, Daiyiarov, and several others. How absurd and how terrible. It is now established that the “Sydykov organization” (for which Dzholdoshev suffered) was accused of attempting to overthrow Soviet power in Kyrgyzstan and separating it from the USSR. In reality, there was nothing of the sort. All of this, as it turned out, was a specific consequence of the “policy of intensifying class struggle.” Today we are astonished by the absurdity of the accusations once made, but therein lies the terrifyingly irrational spirit of the time, that the more absurd, the more frightening.

And one more detail characterizing Dzholdoshev.

The last time Akima Otorbaevna saw her husband was on August 7, 1937. During their meeting, he told her that he had started learning German and, with the help of a German cellmate, had learned to speak German. Resigned, he still maintained hope for the triumph of justice.

On August 27, 1937, the troika of the NKVD of the Kyrgyz ASSR sentenced him. The death certificate, received only after the XX Congress of the CPSU, states that Dzholdoshev died in 1946 from lobar pneumonia, although his relatives believe that he perished much earlier, even before the war.
