Currently, the candidacy of Gulzat Isamatova for the position of Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations is being discussed in parliament.
“Punishing students for absences in the form of financial fines is absolutely unacceptable. If a student is absent without a valid reason, they should be penalized academically. We have reached a situation in education where instead of enhancing knowledge, we are simply taking money from students. This has become a serious problem for all learners,” he noted.
Bekeshev urged Isamatova to initiate the cessation of such practices in all higher educational institutions.
“The main goal should be education, not financial gain. Universities are forgetting their primary mission,” the deputy added.
