Gulzat Isamatova, acting Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovations, noted that the fees for missed classes are set individually by each private university.

At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on December 25, she clarified that in most universities there is a practice of charging for missed classes if there is a valid reason. For example, if the bachelor's program requires 60 credits per year at a contract cost of 60,000 soms, the amount is divided by the number of credits, resulting in about 1,300 soms for each missed subject.

“This is not right. It is necessary to introduce academic penalties and make-up work. We will create a working group to address this issue,” Isamatova added.
