According to the press service of the Ministry of Science, the event was attended by vice-rectors for research from higher education institutions, heads of research institutions, experts in the field of financing scientific work, as well as representatives from regions who joined the discussion in an online format.
First Deputy Minister Aibek Chotonov, in his speech, emphasized the importance of modernizing the scientific sector and implementing modern mechanisms that contribute to effective development. He noted that science is viewed by the state as a strategic resource, and the newly established Ministry of Science, Higher Education and Innovations aims to create a transparent and effective support system for researchers.
“Today, we need new approaches that guarantee the quality and practical significance of scientific research. We are working on an updated funding model and are awaiting constructive proposals from the scientific community,” he added.
During the meeting, participants were presented with a presentation titled “National Funding Mechanisms,” which covered the main areas of support for science, including budget funding, resources from the Science Fund, and program-targeted tools. Information was also provided about the ongoing analysis of the effectiveness of current research.
