An important milestone in the history of the Kyrgyz National University, marking its 100th anniversary, was discussed at an international forum titled "National University - Support of the Nation." The Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations of the Kyrgyz Republic, Baktyar Orozov, emphasized that the century-long history of this educational institution reflects the formation and progress of the country.
“The university, founded in 1925 as an institute of enlightenment, has become the main center for training the intellectual elite of our country. Here, the foundations of the scientific school of the Kyrgyz SSR were laid, and the first research in the fields of social and natural sciences began. Many outstanding scientists, academicians, and public figures who made significant contributions to the development of the history, language, culture, and economy of the Kyrgyz people emerged from these walls,” he noted.
Orozov also highlighted the university's modern achievements.
“Today, KNU has established itself as a multidisciplinary and comprehensive scientific and educational institution, ranking in QS Asia and Central Asia. This confirms its openness and compliance with international standards.
The university implements 258 educational programs at all levels of training, ranging from secondary vocational education to bachelor's, master's, and PhD programs. Most of these programs have undergone both international and national accreditation.
In recent years, the university has significantly updated its material and technical base: modern classrooms, laboratories, research centers, libraries, and digital platforms have been opened. These improvements create favorable conditions for effective learning and scientific work.
Moreover, the university actively participates in scientific projects and establishes international cooperation. All these achievements are the result of the collective work of the faculty, students, and university administration,” Orozov concluded.
