The national forum titled "The Role of Higher Education in the Implementation of the National Idea 'Unguzhol'" took place on December 17 in Bishkek.

According to information provided by the press service of the Ministry of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations, the main goal of the forum was to determine the contribution of higher education to the implementation of the national doctrine "Unguzhol." Participants also discussed the formation of a unified academic policy, the development of the University Association's program for the period up to 2030, as well as key challenges related to personnel, science, infrastructure, and digital technologies in the field of higher education.

Among the participants were State Secretary Arslan Koichiev, Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovations Nurlan Omurov, rectors and vice-rectors of universities, as well as representatives from the academic and expert community.

State Secretary Koichiev emphasized that "Unguzhol" is not just a program but a national doctrine aimed at uniting the efforts of the state and society. He noted the importance of universities as centers for the formation of national values and civic identity, as well as the intellectual potential of the country.

Koichiev called on educational institutions to actively participate in the implementation of the national idea, strengthen scientific and analytical work, develop inter-university initiatives, and create an academic policy aligned with the principles of "Unguzhol."

Deputy Minister Nurlan Omurov added that the University Association should become the main platform for promoting reforms in higher education and uniting the academic community.

He outlined priority areas of work: updating educational standards, improving accreditation, digital transformation of management, and developing the human resources potential of universities. Omurov noted that reforms should contribute to a real improvement in the quality of education and increase public trust, and the ministry will continue joint activities with the University Association to modernize the sector.

Forum participants agreed that the higher education system plays an important role in implementing the "Unguzhol" Doctrine and supported the expansion of university participation in shaping the national idea. The strategic status of KNU as a base university was also confirmed. As a result of the discussions, a decision was made to develop the University Association Program until 2030, determine joint measures to address key tasks in higher education, form a unified approach to the development of scientific and educational clusters, and create a unified digital database of university graduates in the country.

The forum also concluded that there is a need to prepare a final resolution and establish a sustainable funding mechanism for the University Association to implement its programs and initiatives.
