At the meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh on December 24, Deputy Dastan Bekeshev raised the issue of the need to lift the ban on vapes and electronic cigarettes, which came into effect this year. "The ban on import and sale does exist, but nevertheless, vapes continue to enter the market. Previously, we received taxes from this sector, but now not a penny is coming into the budget. At the same time, those who wish can easily purchase them through Telegram channels. Why not lift the ban and combat such products through taxation?" Bekeshev said.

Almambet Shykmamatov, the head of the State Tax Service, supported the deputy's position. He noted that the issue should be thoroughly reconsidered.

"Bans do not always work, and we are only contributing to smuggling and illegal enrichment. Lifting the ban would be a reasonable and more liberal solution," he added.

Bekeshev emphasized that the current ban has not justified itself, which he had previously discussed with Elvira Surabaldiyeva. "We are concerned that if the cabinet of ministers proposes amendments, the deputies may not support them," he noted. "Since the initiative came from the deputies, it would be logical for them to reintroduce the bill themselves. We are ready to start developing the project at any moment."

The deputy also called for reasonable taxation, pointing out that alcohol and medications are many times more dangerous to health.
