Torogeldi Tynymseitov, head of the district veterinary and livestock development department, noted that work in this area is systematic.
He added that the government provides support to farmers by offering seed material for free. In addition, local authorities are actively conducting outreach work among the population. “Together with the heads of the rural administrations, we organize meetings and carry out blood tests on cattle to check the health of the animals. If the results are positive, we begin the artificial insemination procedure. Last year, we already received the first pedigree calves, and we plan to hold an exhibition-fair soon to showcase the results of our work,” Tynymseitov said.
Experts believe that the main goal of this reform is to obtain high-yield offspring for both meat and dairy production.
Livestock specialists argue that it is much more profitable to have 5 heads of elite breeding cattle than 100 ordinary non-pedigree animals.
In addition to working with cattle, selective breeding is also being conducted in sheep farming in the district, with an emphasis on breeding the meat-fat breed "Arashan." It is expected that the peak of the lambing campaign will occur in April, after which an agricultural fair is also planned.
Currently, a group of 20 advanced farmers has formed in the At-Bashinsky district, who have practically proven the effectiveness and profitability of modern herd breeding methods.
