Sıymık Bakir uulu, a farmer from the Aiyl District of Amanbaev in the Aytmatov region of the Talas province, is engaged in breeding purebred cows.

In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, he shared that their family farm originally included various types of animals, such as sheep, horses, and bulls. “However, we concluded that it is most profitable to focus on breeding purebred cows. The main advantage of these animals lies in their purebred nature: they are taller, produce more milk, and provide greater profit compared to local breeds. For example, one purebred cow can produce as much milk as two or three ordinary ones,” the farmer noted.

According to him, calves from such animals are also sold at a higher price and grow faster. “It is said that a newborn calf is comparable in size to a two-month-old local one. These animals mature early and can already calve at the age of two. The advantages are clear, which is why we decided to engage in breeding purebred livestock,” he added.

Sıymık Bakir uulu also noted that the price of cows depends on their height and weight, averaging between 260,000 to 270,000 soms. “We breed Holstein-Friesian cows. This is a dairy breed, and they really do produce a large amount of milk, but they require good care. The difference between our local cows and purebred ones is significant. Locals can graze on open pastures, while purebreds cannot always do so due to their large size,” he explained.

To meet the needs of his cows, the farmer feeds them silage, hay, barley, and wheat, as well as adds special vitamins to support their immunity. “Right now, we are just at the beginning of this journey and haven't had time to prepare properly. Next year, we plan to stock up on feed in advance and ensure a sufficient supply of grain and hay,” concluded Sıymık.

The idea of breeding purebred livestock came to the family three years ago. “We took out a loan at 3% under the state program for the development of purebred livestock and began to form our farm. To acquire animals, we visited the Russian city of Saratov, where we studied the experience of local farmers, but the terms of the contract did not suit us. Ultimately, we found a suitable local farm,” he said.
