Avazbek Soyuzpakhtal uulu, a resident of the Suusamyr Valley in the Jayil district of Chui region, has been engaged in breeding Areshan sheep for four years.

In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, Avazbek noted that while he used to get about 35 kg of meat from one standard sheep, now castrated Areshan rams can yield up to 80 kg.

Avazbek was born in 1991 in the village of Tunuk, located in the Suusamyr Valley. He is currently married and raising one child.

“My father worked in the road service during Soviet times and then retired. Our household always had livestock, and since childhood, we helped with animal husbandry. We had sheep, cows, and horses. Previously, we bred Gissar rams, and three to four years ago, we were gifted a ram from the line of the famous Areshan ram Vovanich. After his arrival in our farm, the lambs began to be born larger. Seeing the results, I became interested in the Areshan breed. This year, I acquired a son of the famous ram Landras named Las-Vegas. At the first exhibition we participated in, we took second place in height, with a shoulder height of 101.5 cm. Participating in the exhibition further ignited my interest, and I plan to continue breeding and work diligently in the future,” he shared.

Avazbek compared the weight of meat from ordinary sheep and Areshan rams:

“The most productive of our ordinary sheep yielded a maximum of 35 kg of meat. Meanwhile, Areshan lambs already reach 40 kg. A three-year-old castrated ram can provide 80 kg of meat. This clearly shows that one Areshan ram gives twice as much meat as a standard sheep.”

“Some believe that with the spread of the Areshan breed across farms, prices will drop. However, elite breeding rams, on the contrary, continue to rise in price. Do prices for breeding horses ever decrease? The same will happen with Areshans,” Avazbek concluded.
