In an interview with a Turmush correspondent, he shared that he is 34 years old and holds two qualifications: software engineer and electrician.
“I felt that I had chosen the wrong path. Crafting was my hobby, but over the past year, it has become my main occupation,” noted Dastan.
He creates modern items from stone, giving this material a new life.
“There are many stones in our region, and it is from them that I make my products. Previously, it took me three days to create one item, but now, thanks to experience, I can do it in one day. I have created a special machine for cutting stone, which significantly speeds up the process. Working with stone requires patience: despite its hardness, it can easily crack or break. Prices for the products range from 8,000 to 50,000 soms, depending on the beauty and size of the stone. I receive orders for items for ethno-houses, yurts, and guesthouses; there is great interest in my work, and I plan to develop the business in this direction,” shared the craftsman.
Dastan is the father of four children and, in addition to his stone products, runs a farming business.
“Sometimes, when orders come in, I work as an electrician. Mostly, I engage in livestock farming and fieldwork in the village, and in my free time, I create stone products, drawing inspiration from this,” he added.
