Rakhatebek Nurdinov, a farmer from the Suusamyr Valley, has chosen to breed Areshan sheep.
Three years ago, he decided to completely abandon traditional sheep, opting instead for the more productive Areshan breed. Recently, one of the ewes from his farm won first place at the Areshan exhibition held in his native village.
Rakhatebek was born on November 2, 1987, in Suusamyr.
In a conversation with a Turmush correspondent, the farmer shared that his journey to the Areshan breed began with the purchase of one ram for crossbreeding with ordinary sheep. “But the result was not what I expected. So three years ago, I sold all my sheep and bought three Areshans. The following year, I added another 20 heads, and this year — 10. The three-month-old rams cost me 900,000 soms, while I purchased the ewes at prices ranging from 90,000 to 500,000 soms each. My rams come from the Blondin and Tanker lines, most of the ewes are from the French line, and the others belong to different breeds,” Nurdinov said.
He is particularly proud of an ewe named Bayarka, which weighs 125 kilograms and has a height at the withers of 90 centimeters. At the last exhibition in Suusamyr, she took first place.
Rakhatebek is married and raises four children.
