Likhachev joined the delegation of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who arrived in the capital of Kyrgyzstan on November 25 for a state visit and to participate in the meeting of the Collective Security Council of the CSTO, scheduled for November 27.
On the same day, a meeting took place between the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, and Vladimir Putin at the "Yntymak Ordo" center.
Speaking to journalists, Likhachev emphasized that Russia and Kyrgyzstan share long-standing relations encompassing both economic and cultural aspects.
"Kyrgyzstan is not only a bilateral partner with a broad agenda but also an active participant in the Eurasian Union, the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the CSTO, and other multilateral formats. This confirms that there is not only an active agenda between our countries today but also significant potential for further development," he noted.
As a result of the negotiations between the presidents of the two countries, Likhachev reported on the progress of several joint projects. In particular, he mentioned the implementation of a project in the field of nuclear medicine with the participation of the IAEA (International Atomic Energy Agency). "We have begun the creation of a nuclear medicine center, which will significantly improve the quality of healthcare in Kyrgyzstan," he added.
Moreover, Likhachev reported on the delivery of the first components for equipment to the site of the wind farm in the Issyk-Kul region, as well as the prospects for creating small modular generation in the country.
The General Director of "Rosatom" also noted that one of the key areas of cooperation is the reclamation of nuclear legacy. "We are working on the implementation of the Soviet atomic project: five tailings storage facilities have already been brought to a safe state, three are in the process of being worked on, and Kyrgyz companies are actively participating as our subcontractors," he noted.
Likhachev concluded that a reliable structure for interaction in the nuclear sphere is being formed between Russia and Kyrgyzstan, based on trust between the governments and close cooperation between corporations. "Relations in this area require a special level of trust and interaction," he concluded.
