Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, noted the success of the recent negotiations in Bishkek, which took place in an expanded format at “Yntymak Ordo.” According to him, the meetings were held in a constructive atmosphere, highlighting the strong and friendly ties between Russia and Kyrgyzstan.
“We discussed all key issues concerning our countries and exchanged views on relevant regional matters. An important outcome of these negotiations was a joint statement on elevating the level of Russian-Kyrgyz cooperation to a deeper strategic partnership and alliance,” Putin added.
During the discussions, several intergovernmental and interdepartmental agreements were signed aimed at expanding practical cooperation. Special attention was given to the prospects of economic cooperation.
As a result of last year, the trade turnover between the countries reached a record high, exceeding 4 billion dollars, and this year there is a growth in mutual trade at around 17%. “This is an impressive result, as we have practically abandoned the use of foreign currencies in settlements and established stable channels for credit cooperation,” the president noted.
The share of the ruble in commercial transactions now stands at 97%. Russia actively supports Kyrgyzstan in modernizing tax administration and product labeling, which, according to preliminary estimates, has increased additional budget revenues for Kyrgyzstan by more than 1 billion dollars. Russia holds a leading position among investors in the Kyrgyz economy.
The total volume of Russian investments in the country has reached nearly 2 billion dollars. About 1,700 companies with Russian capital operate in Kyrgyzstan, working in key sectors such as energy, mining, agriculture, transportation, and logistics. These successes have been made possible thanks to the stable domestic policy of the President of Kyrgyzstan.
The parties actively cooperate within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union, where common markets for goods, services, capital, and labor are being created together with other states. The development of Eurasian integration brings tangible benefits to all participants, including Kyrgyzstan.
Since the republic's accession to the EAEU, its GDP has doubled over the past 10 years. Russia also finances a bilateral development fund, within which about one billion dollars has been invested in Kyrgyzstan for the implementation of more than 3,500 joint projects in the real sector of the economy, as recently noted by the President of Kyrgyzstan.
Energy is one of the most important areas of cooperation between Russia and Kyrgyzstan. Russia fully meets Kyrgyzstan's needs for gasoline and diesel, offering preferential terms without export duties, which positively affects the economy of the republic.
In addition, Gazprom supplies natural gas to Kyrgyzstan and participates in the gasification program for the regions of the country. More than 400 million dollars have been allocated for these purposes, which has allowed the level of gas supply to increase to 42%. Work in this direction will continue.
Russia also provides Kyrgyzstan with electricity and participates in the design and modernization of hydroelectric power stations. A joint construction of a large solar power plant is planned in the Issyk-Kul region, and a new thermal power plant in northern Kyrgyzstan.
Furthermore, “Rosatom” is implementing a program for the reclamation of uranium mining sites. The possibility of constructing the first nuclear power plant in the republic using advanced Russian technologies that meet strict safety and environmental protection requirements is also being considered. Putin emphasized that humanitarian ties between the two countries continue to strengthen and develop.
