
The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, announced that more than 16 thousand students from the country are receiving education in Russian universities. This statement was made following his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Russian leader visited Kyrgyzstan on a state visit the day before. The main topics of the negotiations were economic cooperation, trade, and further prospects for interaction between the two states. Several bilateral agreements were signed during the meeting.
According to Japarov, about 50% of the mentioned students are studying at the expense of the Russian budget.
He also spoke about plans for the scientific and technical modernization of the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University, which is one of the leading educational institutions in the country.
The President emphasized that the signing of the Agreement on the establishment of a new campus for the university marked the beginning of this significant project.
