The award ceremony for the National Film Award "Ak Ilbirs" took place in Bishkek, where this award symbolizes strength and aspiration, embodied by the snow leopard, reflecting the development of cultural traditions.
Edil Baisalov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, attended the event and noted that the meeting took place in a joyful atmosphere, emphasizing the importance of supporting filmmakers and the Ministry of Culture.
He also added that for the first time, the national award "Ak Ilbirs" is being held in such a broad format, now covering all aspects of national cinema — from artistic and festival to mass and even home projects. This is a step towards uniting filmmakers under the auspices of the Union and the Ministry.
Baisalov also mentioned recent data from the Global Innovation Index, where Kyrgyzstan ranks 6th in the number of feature films per adult population. He expressed confidence that this is not the limit for our country.
Filmmakers in Kyrgyzstan are distinguished by their creativity and originality, drawing inspiration from their ancestors' heritage and striving for new heights.
He emphasized that domestic cinema aims for recognition on the international stage.
The "Ak Ilbirs" award annually recognizes outstanding achievements in national cinema, attracting leading directors, actors, screenwriters, and technical specialists. In 2025, awards were presented in 12 categories covering feature, documentary, and short films.
