On January 12, a meeting took place between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan, Meder Abakirov, and the U.S. Ambassador Leslie Viguerie. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

The parties discussed the upcoming "C5+1" forum, which is scheduled for February 4-5, 2026, in Bishkek. During the meeting, organizational aspects and the content of the event were reviewed, as well as its role in strengthening dialogue and expanding cooperation between Central Asia and the United States.

Ambassador Viguerie emphasized that the new visa requirements are not directed against individual countries and are part of a broader U.S. immigration policy that takes into account compliance with visa legislation.

As a result of the discussions, the parties agreed on the need for joint efforts to find acceptable solutions that will help resolve current issues in the visa sphere.
