According to a report from the presidential press service, the decree to establish the Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Egypt was signed by Sadyr Japarov. The diplomatic institution will be located in Cairo and will begin its operations on January 1, 2026.
The goals of opening the embassy include strengthening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Egypt in areas such as politics, economics, investment, science, education, and culture. Special attention will be given to consular services for Kyrgyz citizens living or temporarily residing in Egypt and neighboring North African countries. Preliminary data indicates that the number of such citizens is about three thousand.
The Cabinet of Ministers has been tasked with increasing the staff of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by five people to ensure the functioning of the embassy, as well as addressing issues related to organization and funding.
The establishment of the embassy is seen as an important step in expanding Kyrgyzstan's diplomatic presence abroad, diversifying foreign policy ties, and strengthening the country's position in the African region.
