The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan detained three of those who signed the appeal for early presidential elections

The detainees are suspected of involvement in mass riots, according to information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Kyrgyzstan.

According to the agency, as part of the investigation into the attempted organization of riots, Bekbolot Talgarbekov, Emil Uzakbaev, and Kurmanbek Dyykanbaev were detained.

As of February 9, 2026, 75 citizens appealed to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov and the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu with a request to hold new presidential elections in the country. Among the signatories were scientists, former prime ministers, former deputies, and opinion leaders.

Some statements in this appeal caused a wide resonance and heightened socio-political tension in Kyrgyzstan.

In this regard, the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case on the signs of mass riots, as provided for in part 1 of Article 278 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan.

Currently, investigative actions are ongoing, and 75 citizens who signed the appeal have been brought to the Investigative Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

As organizers and active participants in this crime, T.B. born in 1955, U.E. born in 1955, and D.K. born in 1960 were detained. They have been placed in a temporary detention facility in accordance with Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Kyrgyzstan.

Searches have also been conducted at the residences of the detainees. Investigative activities are ongoing.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs urges citizens to remain vigilant, avoid provocations, and not spread false information.
