- In Kyrgyzstan, the volume of transactions conducted via QR codes reached 908.6 billion soms by 2025, with the number of operations exceeding 525 million. This was reported by Nurgul Tashbekova, head of the Digital Financial Technologies Department of the National Bank, during a live broadcast.

She noted that QR payments have significantly increased in popularity in recent years and have become a key element in the digitization of the country's financial system.

“Today, users can make payments and transfers through the mobile applications of any bank, regardless of where their account is held. All banks and payment systems are united in a single ecosystem thanks to the national QR code standard,” Tashbekova explained.

Kyrgyzstan, according to the representative of the National Bank, has become one of the first countries in Central Asia and the Eurasian Economic Union to implement its own QR code standard and ensure the integration of all financial institutions.

The popularity of QR payments, according to Tashbekova, is attributed to their simplicity and accessibility for both citizens and businesses.

“To accept QR payments, no complex and expensive equipment is required — it is enough to have a QR code. This is especially relevant for small and medium-sized businesses, as it reduces costs and simplifies the process of cashless transactions,” she added.

Tashbekova emphasized that QR payments significantly increase the accessibility of financial services, especially in remote regions.

“A modern smartphone is the most accessible financial tool, and QR payments allow users to conduct transactions quickly, conveniently, and securely,” she noted.

The National Bank also reported ongoing efforts to develop QR infrastructure, including the implementation of a fast payment system.
