Toraga of the ЖК and the Ambassador of Japan Discussed Issues of Expanding Inter-Parliamentary Relations

On February 24, Toraga ZhK Marlen Mamataliyev met with the Ambassador of Japan to Kyrgyzstan, Hirano Ryuichi. The press service of the Jogorku Kenesh reported that the meeting discussed the prospects for deepening political, economic, and cultural ties between the two countries, including the expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

Congratulating the ambassador on the successful conduct of parliamentary elections in Japan, Marlen Mamataliyev expressed the interest of the Jogorku Kenesh in active interaction with the new composition of the parliament of that country. He also noted the current state of relations between Kyrgyzstan and Japan.

“The Japan International Cooperation Agency actively supports Kyrgyzstan in implementing major infrastructure projects and other initiatives. We need to continue our joint work to achieve a new level of Kyrgyz-Japanese relations, where we have significant potential,” emphasized the speaker.

He also recalled the productive working visit of President Sadyr Japarov to Japan last year, noting the importance of the agreements reached during the trip. Speaking about inter-parliamentary interaction, Mamataliyev highlighted the positive results of the work of the friendship parliamentary groups.

Hirano Ryuichi, in turn, thanked Marlen Mamataliyev for his kind words and proposed ideas, as well as congratulated him on his election as speaker.

The ambassador also briefly outlined his work plans at the embassy, emphasizing that special attention would be paid to the development of inter-parliamentary relations.

The meeting also noted the significance of bilateral visits for strengthening cooperation, and discussed the possibility of an official visit by the head of the Japanese parliament this year.
