Today, February 23, a meeting took place between the Chairman of the Jogorku Kenesh Marlen Mamataliev and the Ambassador of Russia to the Kyrgyz Republic Sergey Vakunov, as reported by the parliament through its press service.
During the discussion, the parties addressed issues related to further strengthening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and Russia, as well as exchanged views on current topics.
Mamataliev emphasized the importance of continuing the partnership with Russia, noting that the political and strategic dialogue between the two countries is at a high level. "It is necessary to continue efforts to maintain relations based on friendship and mutual trust, as well as to actively develop inter-parliamentary ties," he stressed.
The Chairman also mentioned that he plans to make an official visit to Russia in the near future. "This visit will be of significant importance for both inter-parliamentary communication and for deepening interstate cooperation. I am confident that the meetings will allow us to discuss key issues of bilateral relations," he added.
Furthermore, Mamataliev proposed a number of ideas to improve conditions for labor migrants from Kyrgyzstan and their families, and highlighted the need for joint efforts to legalize vehicles with Russian license plates in the country. "All issues can be resolved. An open dialogue and negotiations between our states are important," he noted.
Sergey Vakunov, for his part, congratulated Marlen Mamataliev on his election as Speaker and expressed hope for the successful fulfillment of his duties. He also confirmed his readiness to support the organization of the upcoming visit of the Chairman and noted the significance of the proposals voiced by Mamataliev.
In discussing inter-parliamentary cooperation, both sides emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue on international platforms and its development at the level of relevant committees.
