Kyrgyzstan and Russia intend to increase trade turnover to $5 billion this year

The Russian Ambassador to Kyrgyzstan, Sergey Vakunov, stated at a recent briefing in Bishkek that the countries have all the necessary resources to achieve a trade turnover of $5 billion. As of now, by the end of 2025, the total volume of trade operations has already reached $3.1 billion. This makes the target set during the meeting of Presidents Putin and Japarov in November last year quite realistic, although it requires serious efforts.

Vakunov emphasized that reaching the planned level is possible if new investment projects are implemented and mutual trade increases. "It is important for enterprises to start cooperating with each other. Sustainable and active development of Kyrgyzstan's economy will be a key factor in achieving this goal," he added.

Ulugbek Yereshayev, an expert in public administration, noted that the increase in industrial potential has allowed Kyrgyzstan to significantly boost export volumes. "The country's agriculture is experiencing a rise, and last year a record harvest of vegetables and fruits was recorded. We export them to Russia both in fresh and processed forms, and our products are in high demand," he noted. Yereshayev also expressed hope for resolving issues related to border crossings for light industry producers, which would serve as an additional stimulus for growth.

He also pointed out Kyrgyzstan's need for energy equipment, components, and technologies for building power plants. "There is mutual interest between our countries in various sectors of the economy. Achieving a trade turnover of $5 billion by 2025 is absolutely realistic, and we have every reason for further growth in the future," concluded Yereshayev.
