Today, March 16, 2026, the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of Kazakhstan presented a report on the current situation at the country's reservoirs.
According to the information, specialists are releasing water from large bodies of water located in the northern, western, eastern, and central regions to ensure the safe passage of floodwaters, as reported by Caravan.kz citing Zakon.kz.
As of today, the situation is as follows.
In the Akmolinsk Region, 1.74 m³ per second is being released from the Seletinsky Reservoir and 1.16 m³ per second from the Chaglinsky Reservoir.
As for the Aktobe Region, 1 m³ per second is being released from the Aktobe Reservoir, while 0.3 m³ per second is being released from the Kargalin Reservoir. On average, these bodies of water are filled to 36%.
In the East Kazakhstan Region, 421 m³ of water per second is being released from the Ust-Kamenogorsk Reservoir, and 552 m³ per second from the Bukhtarma Reservoir.
In the Abaï Region, 651 m³ of water per second is being released from the Shulbinsk Reservoir.
In the West Kazakhstan Region, the release from the Kirov Reservoir is 5 m³ per second, from the Bitik Reservoir — 14 m³, and from the Dunguluk and Pyatimarsk Reservoirs — 2 m³ per second each.
In the Karaganda Region, a release of 3 m³ per second is also being carried out from the Intumak and Samarkand Reservoirs.
As for the Kostanay Region, 1.1 m³ per second is being released from the Upper Tobol Reservoir, and 3 m³ per second from the Karatomar Reservoir.
In the North Kazakhstan Region, the release from the Sergeevsky Reservoir is 15.8 m³ per second, and from the Petropavlovsk Reservoir — 13.9 m³ per second.
