Modern medical equipment has been transferred to the ophthalmology department of the regional unified hospital named after Ch. Mametov in the Talas region as part of a project aimed at improving the quality and accessibility of ophthalmological services for vulnerable groups in Kyrgyzstan, reports Turmush correspondent.

The total cost of the new equipment is 11,496,902.13 soms. The package includes a slit lamp with a stabilizer, an operating microscope, a tonometer, an automatic keratometer, an ultrasound machine for ophthalmology, lenses, a kit for ophthalmologists, frames, and vision testing charts. All devices have already been delivered and installed.

Previously, the implementation of the project was focused on the southern regions of the country; however, attention will now also be given to the northern areas, including Talas.

As part of this project, ophthalmologists have undergone training in Kazakhstan and Nepal, which has significantly improved the quality of surgeries performed thanks to the new equipment. The implementation of the project will continue until 2028 and will include activities for the prevention and treatment of eye diseases.
