According to Pavel Katyshev, head of the Department of General and Russian Linguistics, this word appears in the title of a patent that was registered in 2006. To discover it, researchers used artificial intelligence methods.

The term “tetrahydropyranylcyclopentyl-tetrahydropyridopyridines” refers to a group of chemical compounds containing structures of pyridine (a six-membered aromatic ring with a nitrogen atom) and cyclopentane (a five-membered carbon ring).

Other long words in the Russian language include: hydrazinocarbonylmethylbromophenyldihydrobenzodiazepine (50 letters; a chemical compound from the group of benzodiazepines used in medicine) and cocamidopropylpropylene glycol dimonium chloride phosphate (48 letters; a substance used in shampoos and other cosmetic products).

As for pronunciation difficulty, foreigners find it hardest to pronounce the words “vikhukhol” (a type of animal) and “chelovekonenavistnichestvo” (misanthropy).
