The meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Serdar Berdymukhamedov took place in Ashgabat. This was reported by the Kremlin.

The negotiations followed a plenary session of the international forum "Peace and Trust: Unity of Goals for a Sustainable Future."

During his speech at the forum, Putin noted the growth of bilateral economic relations between Russia and Turkmenistan. He pointed out that in the first 10 months of 2025, trade turnover between the countries increased by 35%, which is favorable compared to last year. The President also added that Russian companies are interested in implementing new investment projects in Turkmenistan.

On December 12, Putin arrived in Ashgabat, where his plane landed at the presidential terminal of the airport known as "Little Bird." The Russian leader was greeted by an honor guard and the Chairman of the People's Council of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov. The Kremlin emphasized that as part of the visit, Putin would participate in an event dedicated to the International Day of Neutrality and the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality, as well as planned to hold several bilateral meetings with foreign colleagues.

The previous meeting of Putin in Ashgabat took place in October 2024, when he participated in an international forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the poet Makhtumkuli Fragi.
