Ministers of Education of Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan Discussed Transition to 12-Year Education

On December 11, an international conference titled "The Role of Women in Modern Society: Developing International Cooperation to Achieve the Sustainable Development Goals" took place in Turkmenistan, where the Minister of Education of Kyrgyzstan, Dogdurkul Kendirbaeva, actively participated.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Education, Kendirbaeva also visited the Monument of Neutrality in Ashgabat, which is a significant symbol of Turkmenistan's independence and neutrality. During her visit, she familiarized herself with an exhibition of educational achievements from the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, as well as from universities and schools in the country, where modern educational methodologies were presented.

During a meeting with the Minister of Education of Turkmenistan, Jumamyrat Gurbandurdyev, the parties discussed Turkmenistan's experience in implementing a 12-year school education system, which was launched over 13 years ago based on the models of Estonia and Finland. The Turkmen side shared its plans for introducing a new system for assessing the quality of education.

Minister Kendirbaeva noted that this experience is of significant interest to Kyrgyzstan.

The parties reached an agreement on further developing cooperation and exchanging experiences in the areas of modernizing school education, training teachers, and improving curricula.
