In his speech, Lukashenko noted that the 'Oreshnik' has already taken up combat duty, and the first positions for it have been prepared. This was reported by the BelTA agency.
The 'Oreshnik' is an experimental medium-range ballistic missile system that was first used by the Russian armed forces in November 2024 to strike the Dnieper.
Vladimir Putin claimed that the mass use of missiles from the 'Oreshnik' system could create a strike capability comparable to nuclear weapons.
In December 2024, Lukashenko requested the deployment of the 'Oreshnik' on Belarusian territory, to which Putin responded that this was "possible" in the second half of 2025, when Russia plans to start serial production of the missiles.
In March 2025, Lukashenko announced the start of production of launchers for the 'Oreshnik' in Belarus, but the missiles themselves are not yet available in the country.
