Lukashenko noted that old nuclear weapons were transported to Russia, and in their place, modern systems were received. “We have updated our nuclear arsenal, and now it is in order. Maintaining such systems requires significant costs,” the president added.

The president emphasizes that the presence of a nuclear arsenal in Belarus is due to the necessity of ensuring security. He pointed out that Western countries continue to increase their military forces, spending enormous amounts on armaments. “If you acquire weapons, you do not intend to just store them away,” Lukashenko noted. “Belarus does not intend to wait, as it did in 1941, when enemies came to our land and brought suffering,” he emphasized.

Earlier, Lukashenko stated that any attack on the country would be regarded as the beginning of a third world war, which would entail the use of nuclear weapons. He also noted that Russia supports this position and provides assistance to Belarus in the defense sector. In December of this year, the deployment of the Russian missile system "Oreshnik" on Belarusian territory is planned.
