The President of Uzbekistan Advocated for the Launch of a Joint Program to Improve Air Quality in Central Asia at the Summit in Tokyo

This summit was also attended by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takichi, as well as the presidents of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, and Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov.

During the discussions, participants explored opportunities for expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between Central Asia and Japan in key areas.

In his speech, Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that Japan was the initiator of the first dialogue in the "Central Asia plus" format more than 20 years ago. He proposed holding summits at the level of heads of state every two years, presenting his vision for further cooperation.

Other leaders also spoke at the summit, which resulted in the adoption of the Tokyo Declaration.

The President of Uzbekistan proposed the creation of a digital hub "Central Asia – Japan," as well as the launch of a joint program to improve air quality in the region. He also expressed an initiative to assess and enhance seismic resilience, as well as to open a Regional Center for Advanced Training in Tashkent to train specialists according to Japanese standards.

Additionally, Mirziyoyev proposed to hold the first Meeting of Ministers of Education in the "Central Asia + Japan" format and a Forum of Rectors of leading universities in Uzbekistan next year, as well as to develop a Regional Network Program for Youth Development to strengthen ties between youth communities.

In conclusion of his speech, the president emphasized the shared aspirations of the countries in the region and Japan for peaceful, stable, and constructive development in Afghanistan.
