The Vice President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan, Taro Aso, announced an upcoming summit during a meeting of the LDP's parliamentary league responsible for developing ties with Central Asia. He emphasized that in the past six months, other countries such as Russia, China, and the USA have already held similar meetings with states in the region, and it is time for Japan to take an active role in this direction. "From a diplomatic point of view, it is important for Japan to also organize a successful summit," Aso noted.
Additionally, it is planned that the Prime Minister of Japan, Sanae Takaichi, will hold bilateral meetings with the leaders of Central Asian countries as part of this event.
Initially, the "Central Asia - Japan" summit was supposed to take place in Kazakhstan in August 2024. However, the then Prime Minister Fumio Kishida canceled the trip due to the risk of a strong earthquake in Japan before the event.
