The EDB noted that their first macroeconomic and financial study covers the Gulf States.
In particular, over the past five years, trade turnover between Central Asia and the Gulf has grown by 4.2 times, amounting to $3.3 billion, while accumulated direct investments have increased to $16.2 billion, which is 1.8 times higher than previous figures. This is due to the active development of trade and investment cooperation between the regions.
The study also indicates that the Gulf States hold about 30% of the world's oil reserves and are the largest exporters in this field. The oil and gas sector in these countries accounts for 50% to 90% of export revenues.
The total sovereign funds of the region exceed $5 trillion, and foreign exchange reserves amount to $813 billion, which is significantly above standard norms. This allows the countries in the region to maintain economic stability even in the face of falling oil prices.
It was previously reported that Central Asian countries have increased the volume of goods imported from the Gulf.
