On December 20, Tokayev spoke at the first summit "Central Asia - Japan," which is taking place in Tokyo.

The President expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister of Japan, Sanae Takaichi, for organizing this important meeting.

In his speech, Tokayev noted Japan's impressive achievements in the economy and emphasized the rapid growth of the Central Asian region, which has significant potential for international cooperation. He also welcomed the Japanese government's decision to support the improvement of customs procedures at the port of Aktau. Additionally, the president proposed creating a joint research platform in the field of sustainable agriculture and supported the Tokyo Initiative for developing partnerships in artificial intelligence with Central Asia.

Tokayev added that Kazakhstan is interested in deepening cooperation with Japan in tourism and other areas.

"We strive to develop partnerships in sports, especially in promoting traditional Japanese martial arts — judo, sumo, and kendo. Kazakhstan will host the World Judo Championship in 2027," he noted.

At the "Central Asia - Japan" summit, which is taking place on December 20 in Tokyo, the Prime Minister of Japan Sanae Takaichi, the Presidents of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymukhamedov, and Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev also spoke.
