Hackers Steal Data from 17.5 Million Instagram Accounts

According to Malwarebytes data, hackers were able to gain access to usernames, addresses, phone numbers, emails, and other personal information. Information about this leak was made public on the social network X.

As reported by NotebookCheck, experts link the incident to a hacker known by the pseudonym Solonik. On January 7, 2026, the stolen data was posted on the BreachForums forum, which opened access to it for other cybercriminals.

Instagram continues to be one of the leading social media platforms, with about 2 billion active users per month and over 500 million daily.

The publication also mentions other significant cases in the field of cybersecurity. In late December 2022, hackers gained access to part of Spotify's database, downloading and exposing the service's metadata. As a result, hundreds of millions of data lines and tens of millions of audio files were leaked.

According to Spotify, the platform includes over 100 million tracks, around 7 million podcasts, and approximately 350 thousand audiobooks, with a total user count exceeding 700 million.
