According to the publication, the hackers have already provided a sample of the stolen data, part of which has been confirmed by Reuters. At least three former premium users of Pornhub — two men from Canada and one from the USA — have confirmed the authenticity of the presented data.
“We demand a ransom in bitcoins to avoid the publication of Pornhub data and to destroy it,” representatives of ShinyHunters told Reuters.
However, the exact scale of the attack, the volume of leaks, and the types of data that were stolen have not yet been established. Representatives of Pornhub and its owner, the Canadian company Ethical Capital Partners, have not yet responded to media inquiries.
Previously, the specialized portal Bleeping Computer mentioned a potential data leak from Pornhub.
Pornhub is one of the largest adult content websites, attracting over 100 million users daily, with an annual audience exceeding 36 billion visits.
