After the incident, armed police are securing the area around the mosque in Jakarta.
City police chief Asep Edi Suheri stated that an investigation into the causes of the explosion at the construction site in Kelapa Gading is currently underway.
According to him, among the injured, there are both minor and serious injuries, including burns, and all have been taken to medical facilities.
Local TV channels KompasTV and MetroTV broadcast footage showing how police cordoned off the school while ambulances were working nearby. Photographs of the mosque itself do not show significant damage.
