According to Reuters, Tajikistan is actively negotiating with Russia and the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) regarding joint border patrols with Afghanistan. Sources in the republic's law enforcement agencies confirmed that such discussions are indeed taking place.

One informant noted that no final decision has yet been made regarding the involvement of CSTO forces in ensuring security at the border.

During the discussions, Dushanbe raised the issue of the possible use of Russia's 201st military base to organize joint patrols of the Tajik-Afghan border.

Sources in the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) also confirmed that the option of involving an aviation group from the 201st base for helicopter patrols of the border is being considered.

Over the past week, several incidents have occurred at the border, resulting in the deaths of five Chinese citizens, while another five were injured. On December 1, representatives of the Taliban announced the detention of two suspects in organizing the attack.

It should be noted that the Russian base in Tajikistan was previously responsible for guarding the Tajik-Afghan border before the 2000s; however, since 2005, Tajikistan has been managing this task independently.
